Nominations announced for 2013 High Council

1 08 2013

The Salvation Army world is abuzz today as the nominees for the Salvation Army’s highest position were announced. The nominees were:

  • Commissioner André Cox
  • Commissioner Kenneth Hodder,
  • Commissioner James Knaggs,
  • Commissioner Dick Krommenhoek
  • Commissioner Barry Swanson

Commissioner Clive Adams was also nominated but chose to decline the nod.

People close to the High Council have remarked on the clear role Providence has played in the process of selecting the Salvation Army’s 20th General.

“It’s obvious that God is at work here,” said one officer. “I crunched some numbers. There are 64 women and 54 men at this High Council. If the selection process were left to random chance, the probability that a group of six nominees would only consist of men is a bit less than eight in one thousand. Those are pretty long odds—this group has to have been chosen by God!”
